IELTS Speaking Part 1 Topic: Colors (Band 8.0)

Topic: Colors

1. What is your favorite color?

I think white is the color that I resonate with the most. I like the simple yet elegant vibe that the color possesses. Although owning white accessories and belongings can look clean and aesthetic to the wearer, white-painted materials tend to age pretty quickly. So white is not my color choice when purchasing products, but I still like it anyway.

2. Was this your favorite color when you were a child?

It wasn’t, actually. I used to like black when I was a kid, probably a result of watching too much Batman. I mean, he is the most badass superhero ever. Everything that belongs to him is covered in black, from his suit, his equipment to his car and motorbike. He was and still is, my greatest superhero, and black is still one of my favorite colors.

3. Are there any colors you don’t like?

I don’t have a specific answer to that. However, I’m not fond of colors with high saturation. I think overly vibrant colors aren’t easy on the eyes and I much prefer pastel tones. In fact, less saturated tones are widely used in modern design because they simply look much nicer.

4. What color would you choose for your room?

I’m still living with my parents at the moment so I didn’t decide my room’s painting. It’s white with a slight greenish tint. When I move out in the future, I’d love to have a completely white room, since it’ll be much easy for decoration. I enjoy living in my current room, but the greenish tone of the wall makes the furniture looks out of place.

5. Do you like to wear dark or bright colors?

I much prefer both, to be honest. I like wearing plain and dull clothes as they can fit a lot of situations. I don’t own any colorful piece of clothes, nor I have T-shirts with decorative patterns. I’m into minimalism and wearing simple clothing prevents me from mindlessly chasing fashion fads
