IELTS Speaking Part 1 : Topic Handwriting

Handwriting in IELTS Speaking Part 1 is not too difficult. However, to be appreciated by the judges. So you need to have some correct idiom and handwriting vocabulary and apply sentence structure and discourse marker to implement effectively.

Handwriting : (Questions – Answer)

1. Do you often handwrite?

Not very often. Recently, I spend more time on typing on computers and texting on my phone, so I no longer use handwriting. However, I still love handwriting a lot, although my handwriting sometimes is spidery and illegible.

2. Do you prefer handwriting or typing on the computer?

Honestly, I love handwriting more. Although, the benefits of typing on computers are enormous on these days, I still love handwriting. Because, I think that I can use my own style in my handwriting and it is completely unique.

3. What are the benefits of handwriting?

On my perspective, the most obvious benefit of handwriting is that it can promote people intellectual development. To me, people possessing good handwriting skills are often smarter and have leadership role.

4. Would you say that having good handwriting is important?

Definitely yes! In my opinion, possessing good handwriting skills is obviously crucial because it can promote people intellectual development. Most of my friends who have good handwriting are more brilliant than the other ones.

5. Do you think that computers will completely replace handwriting?

Absolutely no! As you know, in the fourth industrial revolution when modern technology is flourishing, technological devices are used more frequently, the importance of handwriting is undermined. I, however, strongly believe that computers cannot completely replace handwriting. Handwriting can be of some help on certain occasion. For example, I often handwrite party invitations to my friends to show my love and honesty to them.

6. Do you think handwriting is still important?

Yes, I think so. Handwriting skills will always be important. Formal letters are needed in business. Writing skills are also needed in writing resumes. We all know that we belong to a global village. Today we have to compete with children all over the world. We have to apply for jobs in multinational companies. So we need good writing skills.

7. Do you think computers might one day replace handwriting?

Even though technology has reduced the need of writing skills, still, I feel that it is very important in today’s world and will remain in future as well.

8. Do you usually write by hand or write using a computer?

Well it depends on the situation, if I am sending an email to my friends or texting them then it is usually by computer or mobile phone. When I am studying and making notes then I usually write by hand.

9. When do children begin to write in your country?

Nowadays the children have started writing a lot earlier. They normally join the schools at the age of 4 and they begin to write at the age of five

10. Do you think handwriting will die in the future?

No, definitely not. Handwriting will never die. Its need may decrease because of technology; still there will be many areas in which handwriting will be needed. I also feel that, that day is still very far when each and every person on earth will have access to technology.

11. Do you think children should be taught to write like in the old days?

Yes, I think so. Writing is an art, which is going down because of modern technology. Computers automatically check the spelling and grammar because of which children are losing such skills.
