IELTS Speaking Part 1: Topic Weekend 

In the IELTS Speaking test, the topic of “Weekend” is one of the common topics, so it is important to prepare carefully for vocabulary as well as ideas for answers.

1. What do you usually do on your weekends?

Most of the time, I have a lie-in since I don’t have to go to work on weekend mornings. Then, I usually spend the rest of the day indulging myself by playing games, watching movies, or surfing my Facebook newsfeed to let off steam after a busy week. Once in a while, I invite my friends to pay a visit to the nearby shopping center to have a cup of coffee and gossip about what has happened recently.

2. What will you do next weekend?

Nothing in mind yet. I lead a quite hectic life, and my plans frequently change, so it would be tricky to know what I’ll do. I guess, maybe, I might treat myself to something special to eat or even to go on a short trip as a reward for having hit the books so hard recently to prepare for this IELTS test.

3. Did you do anything special last weekend?

Not that I recall. This IELTS test is extremely important to me so I devoted all of my leisure time, including recent weekends, to having the best preparation for it. I hope that I can successfully achieve my target band score so that I might do something more entertaining this weekend.

4. What do other people in your hometown usually do on weekends?

I suppose that each person will have their own way to optimize their weekends based on their personal interests. Some will hang out with their friends, travel to some sort of amusement such as shops and restaurants, or throw parties as a way to relieve their tension. Others, who are such introverts like me, will have more interest in staying at home, binge-watching their favorite movies, playing games, and some things like that,…
