Writing Task 1: The different methods of waste disposal in four cities

Writing Task 1: (Bar Chart)

The bar chart shows different methods of waste disposal in four cities; Toronto, Madrid, Kuala Lumpur and Amman.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Model Answer

The given graph presents data on the various waste handling methods implemented in Toronto, Madrid, Kuala Lumpur, and Amman.

Overall, it could be seen that each urban area has a different preference for waste treatment. Meanwhile, in all of these cities, incineration and landfill are the two most important and widely used garbage disposal solutions.

As shown in the graph, Toronto is responsible for landfilling more than two-thirds of the waste. On the contrary, Amman disposes of about half of its waste using this manner. The similar method is employed to get rid of 15% and 29% of waste in Kuala Lumpur and Madrid, respectively. In terms of incinerating waste, Kuala Lumpur treats more than half of its waste utilising approach, which is the other prominent one. Furthermore, this technique simultaneously contributes to the elimination of 40% and 38% of the rubbish in Madrid and Amman.

In Madrid and Kuala Lumpur, approximately a quarter of the garbage is disposed of through waste recycling. This technique is only applied to less than a tenth of the total trash in Amman and Toronto. Compositing, which accounts for just 2–8% of the total garbage generated across all cities, is the least popular option for waste removal.
