Sample Answer 1

Every nation has a culture to adhere to. The definition of “culture” according to the dictionary is “the manner of life of people,” or how they choose to live. It is passed down from one generation to the next and occasionally from one nation to another, remaining constant across time. Although my interest in different cultures around the world is unflagging, the celebration of Christmas and Thanksgiving in foreign countries grabbed my special attention. I largely learned about these holidays from novels, films, and web series. Additionally, American sitcoms like ‘Friends’, ‘Super Girl’, ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’, etc., extensively or eloquently depict how well they commemorate the two occasions.

Christmas is a time when people commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, hence it is lavishly observed. In addition to visiting the church and baking cakes, they also exchange gifts with one another and create Christmas trees. Though not in such a spectacular way, our nation does celebrate it. But we don’t observe Thanksgiving the same way they do; instead, we honour the same spirit in different ways.

Both occasions involve taking a single day off from your hectic schedule to spend time with your loved ones. In America, Thanksgiving is observed as a way to express thanks for the harvest and other blessings of the previous year. The major purpose of it is to express their gratitude for the food they receive and for all the positive things in their lives. The tradition of celebrating Christmas on a snowy day is lovely, in my opinion. It is the ideal way to enjoy a cup of hot cocoa with your family while reflecting on the day.
