IELTS Speaking Part 1 : Topic Drink

This topic in Cambridge IELTS 17 test 3

“Topic Drink” is a familiar and basic topic in the IELTS Speaking test.

Here are some frequently asked questions about Drink topics in IELTS Speaking Part 1

IELTS Speaking Part 1 : Topic Drink

1. What do you like to drink with your dinner? [Why?]

Actually I don’t usually drink anything with my dinner. Maybe a glass of water, but only if I am dying of thirst. If I’m out at a restaurant then I might order a soft drink or a beer with my meal, but otherwise I don’t usually drink anything when I am eating.

2. Do you drink a lot of water everyday? [Why?/Why not?]

Absolutely. I always drink plenty of water everyday as I think it is one of the most beneficial things that people can do for their health. Dehydration can lead to countless health problems, so I think it is important to drink at least two litres of water everyday, even more if you are exercising or if the weather is particularly hot.

3. Do you prefer drinking tea or coffee? [Why?]

Actually I like both tea and coffee, it just depends on my mood which one I would choose to drink. Coffee generally has more caffeine, so it will give you a bit of a buzz when you’re lacking energy or when you need to focus on getting some work done. Tea is also good too though, there’s nothing like drinking a hot cup of tea on a cool winter’s day.

4. If people visit you in your home, what do you usually offer them to drink? [Why?]

Well I don’t get too many visitors to my home these days because I live in the countryside, but it depends on the weather or what time of day it is. In the day time I would offer them tea or coffee, or fruit juice or water. However if it was in the evening then either tea or coffee, or even an alcoholic beverage like beer or wine would be an option. It depends on who the visitor is and the time of day really.
