2. Talk About Your Family band 5.0+

Describe a family member who has had an important influence on you

You should say:

  • Who the person is;
  • What kind of person he or she is;
  • What this person has done to influence you;

And explain why you think this person is important to you.

Sample Answer

I’m going to talk about my grandpa. He is 70 years old but still very strong and well-built.

If you meet him, you’ll see he is a very chatty person. He can talk to anyone he likes, from a neighbor to a complete stranger. That’s why people say he is friendly. Also, I think he is very talented. Even when he didn’t finish middle school, he can fix every electronic device in my family by reading books and learning from other people.

My grandpa influences me because he makes me a stronger and braver girl. I always feared new things, but I know that if my grandpa can do anything he wants, I can do it too. Therefore, I stop refusing new challenges.

I think without my grandma, I would be a very shy and fearful girl.

3. Talk About Your Family band 6.5+

Describe the person in your family who you most admire.

You should say:

  • what his/her relationship is to you
  • what s/he has done in your life
  • what s/he does now

and explain why you admire this person so much.

Sample Answer

I would like to talk about my mom who is a teacher. She is now over 40 years old but indeed, she looks much younger and more vibrant than her age. This may be because she takes a long walk almost every day with my aunts.

She has done a lot for me. I remember during my childhood, she always told me stories of fairy tales. Thanks to her stories, I grew up becoming an optimistic girl who always looks on the bright side. Also, she teaches me to never complain about anything I decide to do, because it’s all my choice. Rather than complaining, I should accept the wrongs and keep moving forward.

She is now still a teacher. She has trained a number of generations of students just like me. Besides, she gets involved in social activities in my village, like organizing fundraising campaigns for poorer people.

I really admire my mom because of everything she has done for me and because she has taught me to be a strong girl and a good person.

4. Talk About Your Family band 8.0+

Describe a family member who you want to work with in the future.

You should say:

  • Who he/she is
  • Whether you worked together before
  • What kind of work you would like to do with him/ her

And explain how you feel about this family member.

Sample Answer

I would love to talk about my dear brother, who is 15 years old and still a student. I always feel like he is always such an outlier in my family. He has some kind of artistic vibes, with a charming smile that can brighten up anyone’s day. Also, he is very strong-willed and determined when it comes to anything he sets out to do.

On one occasion, we had a chance to cooperate, which was to share the housework. You know, our house is rather big, and it would be a tedious burden for anyone to clean it alone. Luckily, my brother volunteered to give me a hand. Not just that, we discussed who did what, and he even offered to do more difficult tasks. Because the work was shared, with some music, we felt really delighted doing everything together.

If we had an opportunity to cooperate in the future, I think we would open an art class. My brother really has potential as an artist, a drawer, a painter, or something like that, while I am especially good at keeping everything in order. We would become the best partners for each other – I would be the manager, and he would be the teacher.

I would say I expect a lot from him. No pressure, but I believe there will be something really special in his future. I just can’t wait for it to come.
