The diagram shows the process of manufacturing bottled and canned water.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Model Answer
The flow chart shows how canned and bottled water is made. In general, there are about 15 distinct stages in this linear process which can further be grouped into 5 main sets: cleaning, carbonation, mixing, filling, and packaging.
At the first phase in the process, raw water from a tap is sent to a pump, being filtered, softened, and chemically treated along the way. The pump then channels the water to electric heaters, from where it is directed to a large tank of carbonation via a cooling pipe.
Once carbonated, the water is directed to a mixing tank with the use of a long pipe. In this tank, two phases happen simultaneously, which are adding additives like coloring, syrup and flavor to the water and mixing the liquid with a propeller rotating in a counter clockwise direction. Following this, the liquid is filtered again before being either bottled or canned. Finally, the drinks are boxed and readied to be dispatched to supermarkets for consumption.
