The three pictures illustrate the location of a volcano on an island and show how a nearby village changed before and after a volcanic eruption.
Overall, the eruption had a devastating effect on the area closest to the volcano, where all houses and vegetation were completely destroyed. In contrast, the opposite end of the island remained largely unaffected.
The volcano is situated at one end of the island and is surrounded by dense forest. It is also shown emitting smoke, indicating ongoing volcanic activity.
Before the eruption, the village consisted of several houses and numerous palm trees spread across the island. The houses were grouped into two small clusters, while the trees were particularly dense near the volcano.
After the eruption, the side of the island nearest the volcano was completely obliterated, leaving a vast area of barren land shaped by lava flow. By contrast, the far side of the village experienced minimal damage, with most houses and surrounding vegetation left intact.
