Sample Answer 7.5
I would like to talk about an invention, in my opinion, that has been making our life easier and simpler: the Internet.
Without a doubt, the internet connects people from all around the world free and fast, which makes it the most powerful medium of communication. In the past, it would take days or even months to receive a letter from someone else, but with internet connectivity, we can send messages, make calls and even video calls immediately. As a result of this, we can communicate and work with other people across different parts of the world, which provides many with the ability to work from home or have a virtual office.
Furthermore, the Internet contains an enormous amount of knowledge, so it has become very easy for people to rummage the internet and get the necessary information. We can use a search engine like Google to ask any question and find a web page with an answer and information about that question. Therefore, the Internet is a great platform for students to learn new things and even obtain degrees through online courses.
Last but not least, the Internet provides people with access to endless entertainment. With this invention, we can watch movies, videos, play games online, and listen to music. There are many sites available on the internet, which contain different entertainment materials like music, videos, and more. For example, we can watch millions of videos on a platform like YouTube without paying any costs.
IELTS Speaking part 3
- How has technology made our life easier?
With technological advancements, our life has become much more convenient. With the aid of machines, we can reduce a lot of workload and avoid doing dangerous tasks. For example, we don’t have to spend as much time doing housework as we used to thanks to the invention of dishwashers, washing machines and cookers. Moreover, we can have access to a huge amount of information and knowledge at the click of a mouse. - Which invention do you think is the most useful at home?
This is an interesting question. Well, it’s hard to choose one, but I think the fridge is a very important invention. I like cooking and I cook almost every day, so having a refrigerator at home is essential when it comes to food storage. It keeps the food cold and fresh for a few days, so I don’t have to go to the market too often. - Is it more difficult for old people to accept new technologies?
Yes, I believe so. There are several reasons why some older people struggle with the use of modern technologies. The main cause of this is that some equipment such as computers require a skill set that is completely foreign to individuals who did not grow up in the last few decades. In addition, sometimes the instructions of some electrical devices are in English, and it might be difficult for old people whose English is not their mother tongue to understand and use them. - What can be done to help old people learn to make use of new technologies?
This would require detailed instructions and patience from the younger generation in their family. They can teach the elderly the usage and benefits of smartphones or computers, and this would be easier if old people are often encouraged to use these technologies in their routine tasks. For example, they could be instructed to make video calls with applications like Facetime or Skype to stay in touch and talk with their old colleagues or relatives who live far apart. - Will our life be better if we live without technology?
I don’t think so, because it is difficult for me to imagine a world without technology. In our daily lives, there is not a single thing that does not involve the use of technology. It is just impossible to avoid the impact of technology, whether it is positive or negative. Without technology, our lives would be complicated. We have become so accustomed to using technological advancements that, at times, we don’t even realize how dependent we are.
