IELTS Speaking Part 1 : Topic Creativity
1. Are you a creative person?
I am not that innovative when it comes to something that is not familiar to me, such as doing marketing or thinking of the plan for the whole project. However, people regard me as a “think-outside-the-box” person when I am a salesman since I am quite resourceful in my expertise. For example, I have many ways to successfully approach a person, make them pay attention to our product, and make them come back to buy ours.
2. Does anyone in your family have a good imagination?
In my family, some members display a good imagination. My younger sister, for instance, is incredibly imaginative and always comes up with innovative and groundbreaking ideas for her school projects. Now she is a writer, she loves to play around with different concepts and colors outside the lines to create something truly unique. That is different from me, who tends to do things by the book.
3. What did you learn about creativity at school?
Not really much, since the curriculum in Vietnam mostly focuses on theoretical knowledge. However, during language and art lessons, I learned that creativity is not only an inborn talent but also a process of learning. Some people may be lucky enough to have a flair for coming up with innovative approaches, but it is through practice that most people can be creative. They have sensations, knowledge, and skills, so they will be able to have diverse perspectives.
4. Are people in your country generally very creative?
As for people in my country, creativity is highly valued, and the sky’s the limit when it comes to innovation. For example, water puppetry is a traditional form of Vietnamese performing arts that showcases the country’s creativity and cultural ingenuity. In urban centers like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, you can find an emerging street art scene with colorful murals and graffiti that express social messages, cultural pride, and contemporary themes. Street artists use walls and public spaces as their canvas, showcasing how creativity is deeply embedded in Vietnamese culture and society.
