IELTS Speaking Part 1 : Topic Fast Food

This topic in Cambridge IELTS 16

“Topic Fast Food” is a familiar and basic topic in the IELTS Speaking test.

Here are some frequently asked questions about Fast Food topics in IELTS Speaking Part 1

IELTS Speaking Part 1 : Topic Fast Food

1. What kinds of fast food have you tried?

A lot. So far I’ve had burgers, pizza, fried chicken, and fries. But to be honest, fast food has never been my cup of tea since they’re all too greasy and full of fat. I prefer something healthier and more balanced like traditional Vietnamese foods.

2. Do you ever use a microwave to cook food quickly?

No, and I will never do such a stupid thing in my life. Microwaves are meant for heating or defrosting, not cooking. I think those who attempt to cook food in a microwave deserve to go to jail.

3. How popular are fast food restaurants where you live?

I’m pretty sure that these restaurants are never the most popular eating places in my neighbourhood, and it’s also the same thing in all over Vietnam. A Mc Donald’s burger in Vietnam costs about nearly 100,000 dong, but a traditional banh mi is just less than 20,000. Just think about it, why pay a lot of money for a boring burger while we can easily grab a nice banh mi with just one-fifth of the price?

4. When would you go to a fast food restaurant?

Only when I run out of things to eat. But wait, there’s a market along with 10 to 12 food stalls near my house, so it means I can never run out of food, and it also means that I’d never have to visit a sad and boring Mc Donald’s or KFC.
