IELTS Speaking Part 1: Topic Tidiness

Tidiness” is a topic that often appears in the IELTS Speaking Part 1 test recently.

IELTS Speaking Part 1: Tidiness

1. Are you a tidy person?

Sample 1: Yes, I would say that I’m generally a tidy person. I like to keep my living and working spaces clean and organized, and I find that it helps me to feel more productive and focused. I try to make a habit of putting things away after I use them. Of course, I’m not perfect, and there are times when things can get a bit cluttered or messy, but overall I think I do a pretty good job of maintaining a tidy living space.

Sample 2: No, not really. I often find it difficult to motivate myself to tidy up, and sometimes it feels like a never-ending task. However, I do recognize the benefits of being tidy, and I’m trying to work on improving in this area. I’ve started setting small goals for myself, like spending 10 minutes a day tidying up, and I’m slowly seeing some progress.

2. Do you think that it is necessary to be tidy?

Yes, definitely. I think keeping a clean and organized living and working space can have a positive impact on both physical and mental well-being. For example, it can reduce stress and anxiety, and create a sense of calm and order. In addition, being tidy can help to improve productivity and efficiency, as it makes it easier to find things and stay focused on tasks.

3. Do you think people should be tidy all the time?

It would be ideal if people could be tidy all the time, but I don’t think it’s always practical or necessary. There are times when it’s acceptable to let things get a bit messy or disorganized, such as when you’re in the middle of a project or when you’re just relaxing and unwinding.

4. Do you keep your workplace tidy?

Yes, I make a lot of effort to keep my workplace clean. As someone who works from home, I find that it’s important to have a clean and organized environment in order to stay focused and productive. I have a small workspace so I try to keep it free of clutter, and I make sure to put away any materials or equipment that I’m not using.
