Our friend A took the IELTS test in Nepal and remembered the following Reading and Writing topics and questions:

Reading test

Passage 1. About lie detection techniques such as polygraph and a computerised system that uses a simple video camera, a high-resolution thermal imaging sensor and reads the person’s facial and eye expression changes to consider whether the person is telling the truth or lying.

Questions: complete sentences, True/False/Not Given.

Passage 2. Comparison of ants and certain animals. How they teach the young generation.
Questions: multiple choice, True/False/Not Given, match statement to scientists.

Passage 3. About snow avalanches in the Alps area.
Questions: filling in blanks, match information to paragraphs.

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a report)

We were given a line graph showing modes of transport used by tourists in percentages, in order to travel in a particular country.

Writing task 2 (an essay)

Some people believe that physical fitness of strong individuals and teams is the reason for most sports achievements. Others, however, think that mental attitude is more important. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
