What Is IELTS Speaking Part 1?

IELTS Speaking Part 1 is the Introduction and Interview section. It lasts 4–5 minutes, and the examiner will ask about familiar, everyday topics, such as:

Topic 1 – Work / Study

Q2. Why did you choose this job/major?

A: I chose it mainly because I’ve always been interested in how technology works behind the scenes. Plus, the industry is growing rapidly, so it offers great long-term opportunities.

Q3. What do you like most about your work/studies?

A: I really enjoy the flexibility. I can manage my own schedule, and I’m constantly learning new tools and techniques, which keeps things exciting.


Topic 2 – Hometown

Q1. Where is your hometown?

A: I come from a mid-sized city not too far from the coast. It’s a peaceful place with friendly people and a relaxed pace of life.

Q2. What do you like about your hometown?

A: I love the food and the sense of community there. Everyone knows one another, and the local markets always feel warm and lively.

Q3. Has your hometown changed much over the years?
